I had the opportunity to collaborate with Lazy Days Brewing in Portland, OR, to design a label for their new wild ale, Objet Trouvé. With citrus-forward tasting notes, I drew inspiration from the warm, vibrant hues of oranges and lemons to inform the color palette.

The beer’s name, Objet Trouvé (French for “found object”) refers to discovering something of aesthetic value or significance. To reflect this concept, my first design depicts the moment of uncovering a seashell in the sand. From there, I developed two additional variations: one revealing a hop cone and another featuring the brewery’s mascot, “Dave the Hop Head,” emerging from the sand. These variations provided the client with a range of visual storytelling options while keeping the overall theme consistent. *The hop head logo Dave was not made by me, but another artist that works with the brewery Ryan Wilmont.*

Hop Gossip N/A Hop Seltzer

I worked on another can label for Lazy Days Brewery. This label was for their new Hop Gossip, non-alcoholic beer. The brewer wanted a playful reference to gossiping or “spilling the tea,” so I illustrated two hops in conversation alongside for one and a tipped-over beer for the other. Drawing on feedback from a previous label that my work was “a little too busy” for the brand, I refined the design to better align with their style, using simple designs with a single-color or ombre background while incorporating subtle, whimsical elements. One challenge I faced with this assignment, was collaborating with three owners who had differing opinions on the brand’s direction and trying to navigate multiple perspectives and find a creative solution that satisfied everyone. This project strengthened my skills in client collaboration, brand alignment, and balancing creativity with clear visual guidelines.
